2004 – how we began
Working in Bangladesh, founder Elspeth Waldie was asked to produce a script for a 35mm feature film Bihongo. A huge success, the film attracted large crowds & created lively debate about the superstition surrounding disability. Elspeth saw the powerful potential that film offered to marginalised and disadvantaged communities. This discovery remains the driving force of Purple Field Productions. We continue making films that aim to raise awareness of issues and offer information that enable communities to make their own decisions.
We have produced films with partners in
- Sierra Leone
Our films have proven to be highly successful in communicating information and encouraging communities to engage in local debate and decision making.
And that is what we are all about. Helping people to help themselves.
